Oligio X vs. HIFU: Comparing Monopolar RF With CFU V-MAX Lifting

Comparing Oligio X technology with conventional lifting devices at Foxy M.D

1 How do Oligio X and HIFU differ?

The core difference lies in the type of energy: Oligio X uses monopolar RF waves to heat the dermis evenly and firm the skin, while HIFU uses focused ultrasound to create heat points in deeper layers to strengthen the muscle support structure.

When researching non-surgical lifting, many people put Oligio X side by side with HIFU devices because both use heat to stimulate collagen and neither requires long downtime. But the way the energy enters the skin is different, so the sensation during treatment, the areas that improve most and the people each suits are also different.

At Foxy M.D, the focused ultrasound device in use is the CFU V-MAX, an upgraded generation of HIFU technology with more even and more precise energy distribution, as described in the service menu. Oligio X is a monopolar RF device by Wontech (South Korea), which Foxy M.D received through a technology transfer in September 2026. Learn about each method separately in the articles Oligio X lifting and HIFU CFU V-MAX lifting.

2 Oligio X vs. HIFU CFU V-MAX: comparison by criterion

Oligio X focuses on improving skin quality: firmness, smoothness, fine wrinkles. HIFU CFU V-MAX focuses on lifting the facial framework: jawline, double chin, sagging cheeks. The sensation, time to see results and price also differ.

The table below compares them at the level of general principles. Specific parameters such as the number of shots, tip depth or energy level are chosen by the doctor for each face, so there is no single configuration for everyone.

3 Why do RF and focused ultrasound feel different and give different results?

Focused ultrasound concentrates energy into small, deep points, so it acts strongly on the support layer; RF spreads heat widely and evenly in the dermis, so it acts on the skin's own collagen network.

You can picture the face as a house: the SMAS layer and ligaments are the frame, while the dermis is the wall. When the frame weakens, the face sags; when the wall thins, the surface wrinkles and loses tautness. HIFU focuses on reinforcing the frame, while Oligio X focuses on thickening and firming the wall. That is why the two methods cannot fully replace each other.

HIFU: deep heat points

Ultrasound waves pass through the skin surface and converge at the selected depth, creating small thermal coagulation points that prompt the support tissue to contract and regenerate.

Oligio X: evenly spread heat

The monopolar RF current heats the volume of the dermis, contracts existing collagen fibers and stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin.

Different sensations

HIFU usually aches with each shot; Oligio X usually feels like a spreading warmth, eased by Cryogen cooling spray and vibration.

Results come at their own pace

Both give a feeling of firmness right after treatment and further improvement as new collagen forms over several months; results vary from person to person.

4 Who should choose Oligio X, who should choose HIFU, and who should avoid both?

Thin, less firm skin with many fine wrinkles usually suits Oligio X. Clear sagging along the jawline and a double chin usually suit HIFU CFU V-MAX. People who are pregnant or have skin inflammation or infection in the treatment area should not have either.

This is general guidance to help you get an idea before your examination. A person may have both a sagging framework and thin skin, in which case the doctor will consider combining treatments. Before-and-after photos of focused ultrasound treatment are in the article CFU V-MAX before and after.

Suits Oligio X

Skin that is starting to thin and lose elasticity, wrinkles at the outer eyes and mouth corners, mild to moderate laxity, and a wish to improve surface texture and firmness.

Suits HIFU CFU V-MAX

A less defined jawline, double chin, sagging cheeks, deep smile lines due to a weak support framework, and a wish for a slimmer-looking face.

Not recommended

Pregnancy; open wounds, inflammation, infection or acute skin disease in the treatment area. For Oligio X, also people with a pacemaker or implanted electronic devices.

Tell your doctor

Metal implants in the face, underlying medical conditions, bleeding disorders, recent filler injections or thread lifts, medications that affect wound healing.

5 Should Oligio X be combined with HIFU?

They can be combined when you have both a sagging facial framework and thin, less firm skin. HIFU addresses the support layer, Oligio X improves the surface and firmness; the order and interval are decided by the doctor.

Combining does not mean the more the better. The doctor considers the total amount of heat the skin receives, which areas to prioritize and how the skin reacts after the first session, then decides whether to treat in the same session or separate sessions. For thin, weak skin, Rejuran injections may be added to help restore skin quality.

Note: if you have had a lifting treatment elsewhere, bring information about when it was done and which method was used so the doctor can calculate a safe interval.

Step 1

Examination and identifying the main concern

The doctor determines whether the laxity is due to the support framework, thin and less elastic skin, or both.

Step 2

Choosing the priority method

The most prominent concern is treated first, for example lifting the framework with CFU V-MAX or firming the skin with Oligio X.

Step 3

Monitoring the skin's response

Redness, soreness and the initial improvement are assessed before a second method is added.

Step 4

Maintenance as recommended

According to the menu, CFU V-MAX is maintained every 3–6 months; Oligio X is maintained according to the follow-up schedule set by the doctor.

6 How much do Oligio X and HIFU CFU V-MAX cost at Foxy M.D?

According to the price list effective March 10, 2026, CFU V-MAX lifting is from $158 for the double chin, from $237 for the full face and from $356 for face plus double chin. Oligio X is not yet on the menu, so it is priced after a doctor's consultation.

CFU V-MAX at Foxy M.D has no shot limit; the number of shots depends on how much each face has aged and is not charged extra. 7 Why choose Oligio X and HIFU CFU V-MAX at Foxy M.D Da Nang?

Foxy M.D has both Oligio X and the CFU V-MAX focused ultrasound device in the same clinic, so the doctor advises based on your actual skin condition instead of promoting just one technology.

When a place has only one device, the answer usually leans toward that device. At Foxy M.D, a dermatologist examines you in person, explains which layer is sagging and recommends Oligio X, CFU V-MAX, a combination of the two, or an injectable treatment if that suits you better. Oligio X was received through a technology transfer, with operating training from our partner, in September 2026; see the news Oligio X technology transfer signing.

10 Frequently asked questions

1. Which is better, Oligio X or HIFU?

There is no method that is better for everyone. Oligio X is more suitable for thin, less firm skin with many fine wrinkles; HIFU CFU V-MAX is more suitable for clear sagging along the jawline and a double chin. If you have both concerns, the doctor may suggest combining them after an in-person examination.

2. Is Oligio X more painful than HIFU?

The sensation differs more in type than in intensity. HIFU usually feels like a hot ache with each shot, especially in areas close to the jawbone. Oligio X usually feels like a spreading warmth with a light prickling, which is eased by Cryogen cooling spray and vibration. Pain tolerance differs from person to person, and the doctor will adjust the energy accordingly.

3. Can Oligio X lift the face like HIFU?

Oligio X helps firm the skin and can improve mild to moderate laxity by contracting and remodeling collagen in the dermis. However, for sagging caused by weak deep support layers, such as a double chin or a clearly sagging jawline, HIFU CFU V-MAX is usually preferred. The two methods act on two different layers.

4. Can I have Oligio X after HIFU?

Yes. In many cases a combination is even recommended to address both the support structure and skin quality. The timing and interval between the two treatments are decided by the doctor based on the method you had, how much time has passed and how your skin responded. Please bring information about your previous treatment course to your examination.

5. Which lasts longer, Oligio X or HIFU?

How long both last depends on age, the initial degree of aging, your constitution, and sun protection and sleep habits. According to the Foxy M.D menu, CFU V-MAX is maintained with one treatment every 3–6 months. For Oligio X, the doctor schedules a follow-up to assess your skin and advise on the right time for a repeat treatment.

6. At 30, should I choose Oligio X or HIFU?

At 30, many people are just starting to notice thinner skin, fine wrinkles and mild laxity, so Oligio X or other treatments that improve skin quality are usually considered first. If you already have a double chin or a less defined jawline, HIFU CFU V-MAX may be more suitable. The doctor will decide based on your actual skin condition.
